Sit down – this is gonna be a long one! As many of you know my sister decided to spend her 32nd birthday at Disney World. (Did you know that you can get into any Disney World theme park for free on your birthday in 2009?!) She asked me to come with her and I could not pass up the chance to go. The flights to Orlando were very affordable and my oh so gracious and long time friend from middle school, Jodi, let us stay at her very nice house for 3 days! I swear I was like a little kid – I was so excited and could not wait to get there!
Thursday we went to the Magic Kingdom – we got a little bit of a late start of course because I was with Christi. We got there about 11:30 and there was already a parade going on. Our first stop was the Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse – which was just like I remembered it as a kid. Next we Fasspassed the Jungle Cruise ride – which I totally did not want to go on, but Christi wanted to Fasspass and we did not have to come back if we did not want to. Shortly after that we tried to Fasspass Splash Mountain only to find out that you can only Fasspass one ride at a time – AH – that explains why you would not just run through the park and Fasspass all the rides! So we got hosed and never rode the Jungle Cruise ride.
We rode everything we wanted to ride at the Magic Kingdom. We waited for an hour for Splash Mountain where neither of us wanted to get wet and of course we got soaked – the ride pretty much dumped a bucket of water on our heads. That was not fun – our clothes were all theme park water smelly and stretched out after that. Space Mountain was awesome – I screamed the whole time because that is what you do on roller coasters and Christi made fun of me for it. Best part was no one else in our car made any noise the whole time – boo boring adults! We were exhausted by the end of the day and kind of ran out of things to do but we wanted to see the night parade and fireworks (that we actually did not see.) We ate expensive junk food – the best of being the Mickey Mouse ice cream cone that I can’t stop thinking about! I did not think the crowds were as bad as I thought they were going to be – Christi thought they were horrible. It is weird and annoying how people forget the traffic flow rules when they are on foot! I got really annoyed with moving around people by the end of the trip and just wanted to push people.
Saturday we went to Epcot in the morning. It was nice and not at all crowded. We did not wait more that 15 min for any ride. The Soarin ride was flipping awesome! It was probably one of the coolest of the whole trip. We rode all the rides we wanted to there. For the afternoon we RAN over to Animal Kingdom to catch the safari ride and there was NO one at that park – it was really weird. We rode the safari ride and were under impressed. We also wanted to ride the Mt. Everest ride that was like the only actual roller coast of the 3 parks we went to. We waited about 30 min to get on and I started getting nervous – I did not do well the last time I rode a real roller coaster. The ride was fun – except for the part where you go through the mountain in pitch black, BACKWARDS! Christi and I both thought we might have gone upside down at one point but we are still not sure. I could not see straight after the ride, but I was glad I did it.
We went back to Epcot to have dinner in Morocco and watch the fireworks. We were both so so tired at that point that we basically just sat and waited for the fireworks show – which was pretty cool.
All and all – great trip! I don’t know how people go there with their children, especially babies. That is probably why you go for 6 days so you don’t have to stay all day. The most amazing part of the trip – Christi and I got along the whole time! Really – we had a couple bickering moments but that was it – amazing truly amazing. It was a good time and I got my Disney World fix for a while, except for those damn ice cream cones!
