Baby Update

Hello all!  Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! I hope you all had a blessed holiday season.  Mine went well and fast.  We had all our Christmases the weekend before Christmas to be ready for Baby Brooklyn’s surgery on the 26th.  My mom, dad, sister and I went to Houston on the 25th to be there for the surgery that started at 7:30 am on the 26th.  All went well – they got out the infected ureter that was the size of a sausage they said!!!  The also removed the extra kidney part. They finished in less time then they thought it would take too.

It was so sad that day because she was definitely in pain.  She hardly ever cries normally and she was just wailing in pain that was probably causing her more pain.  She would just look at you with these eyes that said help.  Being the usual weak link I had to look away and blink back the tears.

They all got to go home from the hospital yesterday and my bother said she is doing much better today.  Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers.  Keep her in your prayers that this procedure will fix the problem and they won’t have to back in later.  No hospitals in 2009 – unless it is for babies being BORN!

We Tom Blair’s got to spent a lot of time just the 7 of us this year and it was really nice.  Spending the morning with Brooklyn was the best – she is just such a happy baby!  Here are some of my favorite photos that I took of her this Christmas – her first Christmas.

Remembering the True Meaning of Christmas

In the season of giving I picked up one of the ornaments from the church Christmas tree last week.  The ornaments were all for folks that live at the nursing home across the street from church.  I pick Paul R because my grandfather’s name was Paul.  The list of items was all basic needs stuff – deodorant, socks, aftershave, word searches, large print books, etc.  I bought several items and wrapped them all individually so Paul would have more than one present to open.  I even put a note in there with my Christmas card.

Today I went to drop off the present.  The folks at the front office we so happy to see me and thanked me.  They asked me if I wanted to deliver my present – I told them that was ok – I wanted Paul to wait until Christmas to open it.  As I was about to leave I showed them the ornament I picked from the tree so they would know that it was for Paul R.  That is when they told me that Paul had recently passed away.  I was so sad and shocked.  They asked me if they could give it to another person that needed it, of course I said yes.  I was so sad I called and talked to my dad when I left and was practically in tears.

This just reminds me how lucky I am to have a family to spend the holidays with.  Please pray for the soul of Paul R and his family.  Also remember on Christmas to pray for all the people that do not have a family to spend Christmas with.

I know – I am so Debbie Downer right now – but this really got to me today – I can’t stop thinking about it.  Boo

I pray you all have a safe and wonderful Christmas season and that we all remember what Christmas is really about!  Love ya’ll!

So Much Better on Radio!

I had to make up for my horrid TV interview!  I am so much better on radio!!!  I sound a little like I am 12 and eating cotton – but that is better than looking like freaking idiot.  Actually I think that I really sound like Molly Shannon from the “Sweaty Balls” skit on SNL and I am on NPR – perfect.  Here is link to the story and you can play the audio and judge for yourself.  This actually got me volunteers – yeah!

Enjoy!

On another note – please see the reenacted Sear’s high school photo because it is freaking hilarious! Happy b-day Megan!
