Vacation Vacation Vacation!

Went to the beach last weekend with the Blair’s – about 20 of us went.  This may sound torturous to some of your – but my family is rocking!  We had a great time.  Did not do too much – sat on the beach and in the ocean, read books, slept, played games (nobody got in a fight either!!!) drank, ate – all the usual Blair things, just in a different city.  Just about everyone managed to get something burned by the sun.  For me it was my lips and that was it – awesome!  I did manage to get a progressive tan on my face which is pretty hot.  My forehead is white and it progressively gets darker to my chin – super attractive!  And for the record – Grace and I kick ass at Pictionary!  James helped too this time.

So tomorrow I leave for Arizona on a girl’s trip.  We are taking a driving tour of the state and I am pretty excited about it.  It is going to be hotter than a mutha, but that’s ok, it will still be fun!  Here if our plan of action if you are interested:

Wednesday – arrive in Phoenix, take a driving tour of the mountains, have dinner with the Wagoner’s

Thursday – drive, drive, drive and drive some more – we will drive from Phoenix to Chinle, AZ and hope to get there in time to see the sunset at Spider Rock

Friday – first stop – White House Ruins in Canyon de Chelly – next stop – Monument Valley then we will end up in Page AZ for the night

Saturday – in the morning we will take a still water rafting tour in Glen Canyon, after that we drive to the Grand Canyon!  We will spend half a day there and plan to stay to watch the sunset and colors change in the canyon.  Then we drive to Sedona.

Sunday – we have a whole day in Sedona – not sure what we are going to do there yet, we are going to play it by ear – but YES church is in the plan – relax Blair’s

Monday – we will take our time driving back to Phoenix and stop a few places like Jerome

Tuesday – SPA DAY! YEAH!  Then we will have our nice dinner out

Wednesday – we will be poolside at the Wagoner’s I am sure, and then we head back to the ATX

We should have a good time.  I am sure I will have a bazillion photos when I get back.

Think of me when Texas finally gets a break in the hot weather and I will be in the 100+ temperatures – sweet.

It is interesting to me how much I have changed as far as how I want to spend my time on my vacation.  Recently I am all about doing the outdoors thing and seeing the natural beauty of the great nation we live in – this is just one of the trips I want to make – there are SO many more, that I will leave for another blog.

I miss real food…..

In an effort to save money and eat “healthier” I have been eating Lean Cuisines (LC’s) for an extended period of time.  I miss real food!  I miss going to lunch and actually getting something yummy to eat.  Don’t get me wrong (relax Josh) I am not trying to dog on LC’s – they have some pretty good menu options – it just gets old eating the same 5 things every week.  I know – I am probably healthier and don’t get all tired after lunch and blah blah blah – but I LOVE food!  I love the whole process of going out to eat and having lunch with people.

So here is a list of the food items I miss eating on a regular basis. (in no particular order)

Torchy’s green chile pork tacos on corn tortillas

Chic-fil-a chicken sandwich with waffle fries of course!

Which Wich

Chipotle

Schlotzsky’s original sandwich

Fire Bowl

Texas French Bread chicken salad

Homeslice

Polvos

Guerro’s

Mr. Natural

Pei Wei

These are just a few of the many – but I could go on all day….

I will still continue to support the conglomerate that is Lean Cuisine – but I needed a second to miss junk food.  I am saving money – I am saving money – I am saving money…..but am I really if instead of going to eat I go and run errands – usually at Target…..meh that probably needs to stop too.

To buy or not to buy…..

Sorry for the hiatus – I was on “vacation” last week and did not want much to do with the computer since I sit at one all day long.

So I am having a great debate with myself.  I drive an SUV, an explorer to be exact and I am definitely feeling the pressure from the media to get rid of my gas guzzling SUV and down size to a more fuel efficient vehicle.  ( I am also feeling the pressure in my pocket book – you don’t even want to know how much it costs me to fill up my car.)  This seems like an easy problem right?!  Wrong – I have less than a year left of car payments….I have not been without a car payment in a long time.  So the question…..

Do I down size to a smaller car extending my car payment for another bazillion years, but save probably about $60 – $100 a MONTH on gas or keep my SUV and go without a car payment for a while?  I LOVE my car and have had an SUV for some time now – will I be less safe in smaller car?!  Oh the drama of my life!

I am now taking suggestions.  I will probably hear from Chris and Josh and I already know what they are going to say – so let’s hear it.
