Chivalry is SO dead!

I admit that I am a pretty traditional gal.  I like it when men (or anyone) hold the door for me or will let me go first in line because as they say “ladies first” but I am also one of those people that will hold the door for someone coming behind me because it is just the right thing today.  Yesterday I witnessed something that was just wrong in every sense of the word – that obviously I am still focused on it.

So I am at the gym – I just finished my workout and am stretching.  I am looking around and I see this young cute blonde girl come in (not that this story would be better if she was old ugly and a brunet but I think it helps my case) she is looking around and notices that all the treadmills are full.  So as any person would do – she stands there waiting.  As she is waiting this young attractive man comes in (again just think it helps the story) and I SEE him SEE her standing there waiting for a machine!  I totally witnessed him look at her and see that she is looking around waiting for the next machine to open.  I am sure you can guess what happens next….a machine close to him opens up and he all but runs to get there before her.  So granted there was maybe a 2 min window of when she came in and when he came in – but she was CLEARLY there first.  I was so annoyed by this I wanted to go up to the guy and say “So that was a pretty a**holey thing you just did.” But instead I will just write about it on here.

So maybe this is not a chivalry thing, although I think partly it is.  Maybe it is just a human decency thing.  If it had been 2 girls I would probably be writing about the b that stole the treadmill.

Anyways….point of the story – be nice!  It is just like elementary school – you don’t cut!  If they had come in at the same time then whatever – but this guy clearly cut in front of this girl and if it had happened to me I would have been so pissed it might have ruined my workout.  We are in Texas, a good southern state, I like to think that we Texans can hold elevator doors for people when you see them coming, smile and say good morning – it is easy and will make you feel better – I promise!

On a side note – despite my previous injury I am still working out!  YEAH for me!  I am on a really good streak!  For the last 8 weeks or so I have been doing something at least 4 days a week – woo hoo!  Dare I say I am ALMOST enjoying it?!  Nah – that is why we call it a WORKout not a FUNout!

Have a GREAT weekend and BE NICE!

My latest purchase!

Today I purchased one of the most exciting things I have ever bought!  The GBF and I (who are both poor by the way) purchased season tickets to Broadway Across American in Austin for 2009!  I know it seems a little silly – but we will have been wanting to do this forever!  We found the tickets today and jumped at the chance to go a little more in debt for the experience we will have.  Totally worth it!  Here are the shows we will see:

I feel like such an adult!  YEAH!  Can’t wait until Feb 2009!

Can I drive a 4 wheeler every day?!

Seriously?!  This past weekend I took some of my girlfriends up to La Posada to do the outdoorsy thing.  We basically ended up spending 2 days on 4 wheelers.  It was awesome.  There is something about riding through the pasture at top speed that is so relaxing.  This is one of my favorite things to do!  Last summer when I went on my west coast trip we went 4 wheeling in the sand dunes and that was one of the coolest things I have ever done in my life.  I recommend that EVERYONE do this before they die.

So I have decided to trade in the Explorer for a 4 wheeler.  It has to get better gas mileage than the Ford right?!  I only live about 3 miles from work so it would not be that bad.  Right?!

This photo below provides a good illustration as to why 4 wheeling at La Posada is awesome!

Wide open spaces!
